Leads give businesses the chance to follow up with prospects, convince them that they should buy a particular product or service, and then lead them into a sale. Without leads, a business will struggle to stay afloat. Qualified leads are the best possible leads that a business can obtain because they are more likely to be converted to a sale.
There are some questions which can be asked to determine if a lead is truly qualified.
1. Does the lead have the ability to purchase your products or services? In other words, it is within their budget?
2. Is an application required for your service or product?
3. Is there a time frame for the lead to buy? Is there an urgency?
These are just some of the questions to ask when you want to know if your leads are qualified.
Ideally you will want to give each lead a score according to how likely they are to convert to a sale. A lead without a budget would rate at the bottom of the scale as it means they simply will not buy from you and are likely to be a waste of time. If you know that they are planning to buy within a short time frame, then they are highly qualified.
Marketing and lead generation is often thought of as how to get as many people through the door as possible. But this quantity over quality can be costly and time consuming and often wastes considerable business resources. Rather than quantity, your focus should be on getting the most qualified people through the door because these are the ones that will likely turn into customers.
If you are noticing that the lead generation part of your business seems successful, but the sales are very low, then it’s time to start looking at the quality of your leads. Unqualified leads can be the cause of poor sales. It is not your sales technique that needs changing in this case, but rather the focus needs to turn to generating qualified leads.
Your leads database is the most valuable aspect of your business. Don’t clog it up with useless, unqualified leads. Instead, pay more for quality leads and also start to generate your own qualified leads through the power of the Internet where it can cost next to nothing to get the most highly targeted prospects of all – those which become leads solely by choice.
